چکیده
We present an investigation of multiple droplet growth dynamics on homogeneous and patterned surfaces during dropwise condensation. Our analysis is based three-dimensional thermal lattice Boltzmann simulations. First, we investigate the surfaces. The droplets a surface shows that lower static contact angle surface, higher condensed volume liquid. After that, discuss (a with hydrophilic hydrophobic regions). show pattern formed by completely different from surface. This due to pinning effect at interface hydrophilic–hydrophobic region. Moreover, shape not spherical, as observe in case also demonstrate V for all than However, decreases increase then size spot. find increases radius

Hydrodynamic investigation of multiple rising bubbles using lattice Boltzmann method
Hydrodynamics of multiple rising bubbles as a fundamental two-phase phenomenon is studied numerically by lattice Boltzmann method and using Lee two-phase model. Lee model based on Cahn-Hilliard diffuse interface approach uses potential form of intermolecular forces and isotropic finite difference discretization. This approach is able to avoid parasitic currents and leads to a stable procedure t...
متن کاملDynamics of droplets moving on a solid surface: Lattice Boltzmann simulations
The three-dimensional dynamics of droplets on inclined and vertical walls in a gravity field is simulated. The dependence of a contact angle on a velocity of contact line is obtained for slow regime and smooth surface. The simulations of a rupture of the liquid films on the nonwettable solid substrate due to the thermocapillary effect (Marangoni effect) are also carried out. The lattice Boltzma...
متن کاملDroplet Spreading on Heterogeneous Surfaces Using a Three-Dimensional Lattice Boltzmann Model
We use a three-dimensional lattice Boltzmann model to investigate the spreading of mesoscale droplets on homogeneous and heterogeneous surfaces. On a homogeneous substrate the base radius of the droplet grows with time as t for a range of viscosities and surface tensions. The time evolutions collapse onto a single curve as a function of a dimensionless time. On a surface comprising of alternate...
متن کاملGalilean invariant fluid-solid interfacial dynamics in lattice Boltzmann simulations
Galilean invariance is a fundamental property; however, although the lattice Boltzmann equation itself is Galilean invariant, this property is usually not taken into account in the treatment of the fluid-solid interface. Here, we show that consideration of Galilean invariance in fluid-solid interfacial dynamics can greatly enhance the computational accuracy and robustness in a numerical simulat...
متن کاملLattice Boltzmann simulations of drop dynamics
We present a free energy lattice Boltzmann approach to modelling the dynamics of liquid drops on chemically patterned substrates. We start by describing a choice of free energy that reproduces the bulk behaviour of a liquid-gas system together with the varying contact angles on surfaces with chemical patterning. After showing how the formulation of the free energy fits in to the framework of la...
